The Dutchman Sem Presser (1917-1986) worked as an independent photojournalist in Amsterdam since 1937. In 1944 he photographed the liberation of Arnhem and shortly after the war he made reports about the destroyed Germany. He was also involved in the founding and development of the Silver Camera and the Dutch Association of Photojournalists (NVF). He successfully campaigned for the protection and enforcement of photographers' copyright.
