The Austrian photographer Franz Hubmann (1914–2007) originally worked as a textile technician. After the Second World War he switched to professional photography. In 1954, together with Karl Pawek, he founded the legendary cultural magazine Magnum - the magazine for modern life. The “Cartier-Bresson of Austria” photographed everyday life in Hamburg, Vienna, Paris and New York as well as internationally known artists.
