For Franz Hubmann's 85th birthday, an edition of his work is being published. The various stages of the "Cartier-Bresson of Austria" can be followed thematically in 419 black and white illustrations as well as text contributions by Andre Heller, the architect Hans Hollein and others.

Hubmann photographed artist portraits of Alberto Giacometti, Marc Chagall and Oskar Kokoschka in the fifties and early sixties for the Austrian magazine Magnum. An entire chapter is devoted to an afternoon spent with Pablo Picasso in July 1957.

Hubmann photographed numerous poets and thinkers such as Gottfried Benn, Ernst Jandl and Theodor W. Adorno. Likewise, life at the theater and the world of music, Klaus Kinski, the young conductor Herbert von Karajan and the jazz trumpeter Miles Davis.
