Joachim Froese photographs 1999-2008 is Froese's first monograph, presenting five of his still life series. The 100-page, bilingual (English/German) hardcover book contains essays by Timothy Morrell, Andrea Domesle and a conversation between Ian Friend and the artist, as well as a foreword by Gordon Craig.
Over the last 10 years, Froese has focused his work on photographic still life and has developed a unique way of creating photographic tableaux. These painstakingly assembled constructs are inspired by both art history and his personal story of migration. They seem to defy reality and question the nature of the photographic image as a representation of the real.
