Robert Lebeck (1929-2014) decided to pursue a career as a photographer after studying ethnology. In 1991 he received the Dr. Erich Salomon Prize from the German Society for Photography. In 2002 he received the Infinity Award for the publication Kiosk from I.C.P. in New York. In 2007 he was the first photographer to receive the Henri Nannen Prize for his life's work. In addition to his work as a photo reporter, Lebeck has also made a name for himself as a collector of old photography.
